Studio
Life of the Mind is the studio of designer, writer, and filmmaker Mark Owens. Founded in 2005, the studio creates conceptually based projects in print, motion, and apparel design.
Before starting the studio Mark earned an MA in English from Duke University and an MFA from Yale, followed by work with a number of New York design studios, including ORG and MTV Networks.
Alongside numerous published essays, Mark also co-edited with
Zak Kyes the catalogue for the exhibition
Forms of Inquiry at the Architectural Association, London.
Mark has been a visiting faculty member at Yale, CalArts, Art Center College of Design, and RISD and contributes regularly to the postpunk / Marxist design journal
Dot Dot Dot and Texfield's
Tagbanger weblog. He is also the co-founder of
Oslo Editions.
